Geelong has just won over Brisbane, what do you all think of my Catters?

I only get to listen to the radio call on K-Rock via the internet here in America. Geelong wins 12.13.85 to Brisbane 5.5.35. I am interested in what you all around the world and especially in Oz think of Geelong's chances in 2007. I am a member of Geelong since 1997, been to Oz five times to see the footy from Kansas. I know Geelong has made failure in footy into a science. Is this the year finally after 44 years of disappointments? Please comment. Thank you.

  1. they will always be the handbag brigade (as lou used to say) until they win a flag

  2. As a Lioness I am shattered but kudos to the Catters they were awesome. I have made it pretty clear in the past that I felt Geelong just couldnt cut it with the big boys ... I was wrong, Geelong will win the Flag this year. Lingy for Brownlow

  3. They have a realistic shot if they hold on to either first or second spot (2 home finals), The question is can they beat west coast in the thick of september, I am thinking West coast will have the upper hand in the finals.

  4. The Cats are going great, they beat Richmond a few weeks ago by 157 points, and any team that can win by that much is capable of winning the flag. If they have a good run with injuries, I think they are a good chance this year of breaking that duck.

  5. agree that have almost got the finals jitters to a science ...

I am hoping against hope the team that beat them last - the hawks can win the flag this year i have had like you make years of waiting for my team to come good so i can see where you are coming from.

Anyway my guess is that it will come down to the finals schedule how both our teams go, this year there are a few strong teams and definetly no clear and precise best team.

  6. Just one thing to clear up that will work against us, if we do come in top 2 we still don't get a home final as such, the AFL won't let Geelong play a home final at kardinia park, its just unfair!

Also, Hawthorn always wins in tasmania, they beat west coast there the other week as well as us, and i dont kno what happened with kangaroos, i think that was out bad form that we turned around against richmond.

  7. Geelong were defeated at home 7 weeks ago by the Kangaroos , and have not looked back since .    With  that  record, it leaves them the undisputed form side of the competition.    Of the current Grand finalists, the cats accounted for the Eagles in Rd7 and their next test at that level, comes when they meet the Swans in R13.   At the season half way mark the Cats sit one game clear on top, and have a well balanced talented combination.     If the Cats can maintain their current form without injury, they will be more than a tough contender come September.  Anything more than that is only a dream!!

  8. When it comes to winning grand finals there seems to always be one constant. Injuries, or lack thereof. The past 3 grand finalist have seemed to have really good runs with injuries.

If the Cats can avoid injuries and keep in form (not use up all their good form too early) then they will be a serious grand final chance.

All it takes is a couple of injuries. With any luck they stay clear and can head up a great end to a close season.

  9. g'day mate,

well i think if we can continue with the form we are in why couldn't they win the big one...

there seems to be a completely different attitude down here with the players in the last 7 weeks.

the form of c.ling, g.ablett & j.bartel is nothing short of brilliant

andrew mackie in the back line would be the most improved player on the list then add in selwood who is a super star in the making..

with an injury list of only 5 players

    s.king knee 1-2 weeks...l.bedford quad 1-2 weeks...a .mackie ankle test...n.djerrkura quad test and j.reynolds acl season

this could be the year of the pussie..

i have put some links on so you can keep up with the news from kp

    good luck to you

    go cats
