Does any one else think that although Geelong were good against Melbourne they werent great ?? They should /could have burried them by 200 points. Are they getting complacent ? Will that be their downfall in the GF.

  1. I think they are playing better footy than last year and the fact that collingwood beat them must be saying something. im not dissing my team but collingwood couldnt even beat brisbane lions and only just beat melbourne and st kilda and lost twice to carlton and the kangas.

  2. No, they were not great!

I lost one of my fantasy football team matches due to a couple of wimps on that team. Steve Johnson, for instance. He has a heart as big as a split pea! If he misses the ball at first attempt he is too scared to go back in after it. No guts.

  3. Complacency is an interesting concept. It surmises being that good and that confident to relax and allow mediocrity. Winning is simple, score one more point then an opponent. Coaching and motivation requires work and effort.

  4. Geelong really did play hard and i think that if any side beats a side by more then 100 points it is a decent effort, credit to geelong for their good play. 200 points, has that been done before?

  5. I think that Geelong are taking it easy in the "easy" games, so they don't get any injuries before finals.

  6. Didn't even try against Richmond and still pumped them by 10 goals lol

  7. Geelong are probably playing it on the caution side when they take on teams towards the bottom of the ladder but also keep in mind it was peeing down during that game and considering how wet it was I thought Geelong played extraordinary!!!!!!

  8. They were just good enough to win.

But I suppose one could say they were great......they beat melbourne, and that is no mean feat!

  9. No, Geelong were "great" on friday night. You have to remember it was pouring with rain(i was there). The way Geelong played in the rain, was with such ease and I can hardly see them being beaten in the Grand Final. To beat a team by 200 points in the rain at the G is asking alot and 126 points or what ever it was, should not be laughed at. No other team beats teams by that amount.

  10. I am supporting Geelong from England at the moment, business has me here until February so I can't watch live games.  I didn't see them play Melbourne but was impressed that they won by a big margin again: even if it was against the sixteenth team.

We will see how they go against Swans and Kangaroos in the next two weeks to check their GF form, but I must say as a Cats supporter it is the first time in a long time that I have been able to enjoy watching them play.  They are certainly playing with skill and passion, (but they still handpass far too much: c'mon guys it's FOOTball), and that is great to see.

I was at the game in Adelaide against Adelaide and they played well there.

Long may it continue: well done to this great traditional club, a family club from the bush!

  11. I've noticed that they get a bit a bit arsey around goals passing it around. There's a tiny tiny chance that this could get them in the end but i highly doubt it.

  12. It bothers me tons what some of the other answers say.

Nothing is ever in the bag in footy, just ask all those playing for Collingwood in the 1970 VFL Grand Final and their supporters.

I was not sure that Geelong was home last year until the 10 minute mark of the final quarter in last year's Grand Final.

As baseball hall of famer Yogi Berra once said---"It ain't over until it's over."

  13. they wont have a down fall in the GF, of course they have to get there first, but that is almost a certainty.

I think they were 'great' on friday night though, what more do they need  to do.

  14. Why would they want to? What would it prove? Isn't 116 points, or whatever it was, good enough? They've already sown up 1st spot. They can't go any higher!

Man! There's no pleasing some people!

  15. geelong are awsome

they have it in the bag

  16. I thought they were great. Their foot skills in the wet were awesome.

I think they will meet the Hawks in the GF, and probably beat them.

  17. Bloody h**l!  What does a team have to do?  It was BUCKETING down for most of the game and they won by 150 points.  The handling in the conditions was amazing.  As were the Crows against Richmond.

If it's a wet september, watch out for the Crows against the Cats in the granny.

I'm not detecting any complacency at Catland and I'm one of the most nervous Cats fans on the planet and always looking out for it.

  18. ha ha

    you should be a comedian

geelong on current form will win the flag for the next 2 years

do you want them to win by 200 every week

  19. Geelong will still win the GF.

Geelong didn't even have to be good to win last week. They coould have played ok and still won. They played it the right way, no serious injuries, players in good nick, and 3 more set to return this week.

They are doing everything the right way to ensure a fit team come september.

    - Go Hawks

  20. **Geelong played well against Melbourne and if the first quarter was anything to go by then maybe they should have won by 200 points but Melbourne thew a bit at them after quarter time and lifted their game a bit.

Keeping in mind that it was a wet night and the ball was slippery, I think Geelong did very well and there was no point going out there to win by 200 points and risking injurying some of their players.

I don't think Geelong are getting complacent, you only had to see how hard they were trying to stop Melbourne from scoring even one point during the second quarter.**

  21. They have definitely gone better than last year !

  22. Whats the point of risking injuries and fattigue in a wet game? it was a dead game and a nothing match for geelong, and the final matches are also dead rubbers for geelong. top spot is guaranteed. geelong are preparing for the finals. whatsthe point of burying melbourne by 200?? no one will care when its grand final time!

  23. Why bust your gut against Melb???? they are working toward the last saturday in september, that is when it will all come together!!!

  24. I agree with Geelong could of easily won by 200 points but they went on easy on melbourne for a bit when they knew they were going to win. I'm preety sure that Geelong will win the grand final, there is no one who can really stop them.
