What kind of gemstones show traces that they are growing below the ground? Do they sometimes produce waste that will come to the top of the surface of the ground they are under?

  1. Honestly, depends on the gemstones. Certain trace elements can give the possibility that a precious gemstone might lurk underneath.

One example is in Diamond Mining. Kinberlite, which is a bluish clay type substance, can designate a possible diamond source since diamonds push up from what they call Kimberlite pipes in the earth's crust.

  2. Maybe some that are organic in nature.  Maybe silicious oozes like Opal.
