Gender inequality in politics?

I am doing a project looking at the inequality of women in powerful political positions. Could anyone offer any websites or texts that could offer any info about this topic, including statistics, quotes etc

You can generate your own statistical analysis by taking the number of women in a particular political position and comparing that to the number of women in that jurisdiction. For example go to the state senate website and count the women senators as a proportion of the senate and compare that to the proportion of women in the state. The census bureau is a good place to start.

For textual information if you have a library card most libraries have academic journals or e-books online as well.
