  1. i believe that tunney would be stronger, and he was a harder puncher, so while they are about equal in footwork and boxing ability, i will give a slight edge to tunney by close, but unanimous decision.

  2. Thumbs up to maurice, I agree.  If Tunney could beat an old Dempsey, he most likely had enough to take Conn.  Harry Greb beat Tunney, but Conn is no Greb.  Tunney takes this one with some effort.

    Tunney by decision.

  3. Got to agree with Blogbaba ( which I sometimes don't do ) --- I think Tunney has always been underrated ( especially his punching power ) and I think he could have knocked Billy down if not out. I also agree with the fact that Tunney deserves credit for giving so much trouble to Harry Greb who I still believe was one of the greatest fighters of all time.

  4. Good match up.  On paper it should be a boring fight but it wouldnt be for a couple of reasons.   Conn's head strong and Tunney is smart enough to use that against him.

This is a perfect example of why styles make fights.  I have always maintained that Tunney would give Joe Louis a good fight.  Tunney is everything Billy Conn is but better.  He's a little bigger, punches a little harder,  just as graceful on his feet and quite a bit smarter.

Conn would force Tunney to be the aggressor.   However, this would not necessarily work for him.   Tunney would also take Conn out of his game and knock him out late.

Tunney by KO in 12 or very comfortable decision.
