Hello, I am trying to recieve more information on my ancestor, James Thomas James. He was born in, Llantgervel, Premsbrokeshire, Wales. Around 1690. He died in 1774, Craven District, Charleston, South Carolina. He was a member of the Welsh Tract Church, in New Castle Delaware. I was wondering if anyone else could find more information than what i already have? I know he traveled here with william penn. But i also need proof. I need this information because i only add information in my family tree with proof. I have already used familysearch.org.

If you can please post links to your sources.

  1. Is family search the only place you have tried?

The following may have records on your ancestor:

1)http://www.gpp-5grace.com/graceproclamat... Gives a history of the Welsh Tract Church starting in Wales. They began immigrating to the America in 1701.

2)http://archives.delaware.gov/markers/ncc... this site is the state site about the church. There are many links here.

3)http://spruce.flint.umich.edu/~ellisjs/L...  Is about Welsh who moved from PA to N. Carolina and mentions a Thomas James who was killed by Indians. In South Carolina a James James, Esquire, owned the first Welsh Bible. Look at the resources listed at the end of each page for more research.

4)http://www.welcomesociety.org/ This is a site to perpetuate thememory of those who came to America in the company of William Penn (though his arrival in 1682 seems a little early for your ancestor)

5)http://www.searchyourgenealogy.com/?join...  Claims to be the largest list of search engine sites. I would try some of the less known ones if you've already looked at Ancestry, Rootsweb, James family name lists, Distant Cousins, Genweb for both states,.

    Good luck!
