I have been doing a little reseach on our family tree. I have found out where my family roots started, both of my grandfather's kept up on this, and are now dead, so I am just trying to find out what kind of people my ansestors were, and if that has anything to do with my attitudes, now. Plus, I have found it very interesting, delving deeper into their project, their work was really quite ineresting. I know groups of people became so intermixed with other groups of people, but, this was not the usual case in our family, as they, many of them were from these countries themselves, recent immigrents. Through my findings, I already knew my P grandfather is German Jewish, his fathers name was Adolf Dunlap, excaped holocaust, My M grandmother, born in Sweden, still family there. My p grandfathers family, Irish, came, long ago to excape the potato famine. And, my dear P grandmother, Russian, died as a young girl, no information. Jewish German, Swedish, Irish, and Russian? any know characters?

  1. Hi, it sounds like you have a fascinating family history, I hope you pursue the facts and stories of each of the ancestors you mentioned!

I think of personality traits by country as stereotyping (after all, what's an "American" personality trait?!).  Every person is unique in my book.

But I did find this site, which has more information about traits by country (it even has an interesting graph on the first page, showing personality traits for many countries as they compare to other countries), perhaps this is along the lines of what you're looking for:

    I hope that helps!

  2. In genealogy we really don't get into so called characateristics.  We trace ancestry going back one generation at a time with records and documentation.  Any answers about characteristics will usually just be stereotypes without proof.

Since I am about half Irish(father was Imostly Irish), I would say the Irish are bold, modest, even tempered and sweet.  Now, tons of people will disagree and I have friends that would raise their eyebrows.
