Question:

General Construction Labourers????

I'm interested in learning the construction trade and I'm aware that many contractors prefer people with at least some experience, which means I have to start off as a general labourer. Does anyone know how I could get a general labourer position?

(other than newspapers or from the government job bank, are there any other options as far as places to look?)

  1. Look up contractors in the phone book and give them a call or better just walk in and apply. If you walk in at the right  time they need some one,you could get hired on the spot. Also talk to people networking is very important.A lot of jobs are never advertised when they need some one they ask there employees if they know any one who needs a job.You need to be in good physical shape if you want to a construction labourer .If you do not look like you can do the work they may not hire you.It has been experience that at lot green horns don`t last three days. With no experience you will be doing all the grunt work.

  2. try usedtoronto.com they have a job section on their and postings are usually companies that want people right away

  3. There is a company where I live called Labor Ready and we also have a Labor Finders. Now these comoanies pay you about 50 bucks aday to do general labor work. Once you have this experince, then any cmpany will hire you. I worked for them once putting the insides up in a Wal-mart. We worked on that place all summer. I had alot of fun and now I have the experince of a general laborer.

  4. www.monster.ca  is a pretty good job search engine
