General Hospital these days???

Question

is it just me or is GH not as good as it used to be? I used to be crazy about it but now when i watch what i recorded im always fast forwarding it. I guess its because i miss watching all the old people like emily, georgie, dillon, sky, and everyone that made it interesting....but dont get me wrong im loving the storyline with laura that is a comeback i never expected.

The current writers should look back at the shows from the 80's and take a page from that.  The show was in it's hay day then and you could hardly wait 24 hours to see what would be happening.  Now I don't care if I even see it half the time and I don't even bother to tape it so I can catch up if I miss it.

General Hospital (and most other soaps) has it's ups and downs. When it's good, it's really good and makes us want more, but when it's bad it makes me want to take a nap. I've missed a lot the last few months because, for the most part, it's just boring........I can't watch it during the day, so I watch on Soapnet at night and I really hate the fact that it's not been able to keep my attention this week. I haven't seen Laura yet because I keep falling asleep!

I'm 50-50 with GH.  I'm a religious watcher, but there are some storylines I can do without.

It seems like they are dragging these storylines until sweeps. Half of them could of been wrapped up a long time ago.   Like Kate and her frigging wedding and magazine. I like Kate, but d**n I'm sick of hearing about both those things. Oh, Robin and Patrick. I'm so over them on GH.  I like them better on NS. Better storyline with Robin and Robert's colon cancer. She's whiny on their too, but I can tolerate it.

The writing is so much better on Night Shift this season.

I agree with the person that said the Sonny/Kate and Robin/Patrick stuff sucks. I forward through all of that. I wish they would just leave Robin and Patrick on Night Shift and move Sonny and Kate on there as well. I also wish Jason for once could catch a break and be happy but I guess that is never going to happen. The mob stuff is way past getting old, and hardly any of the matched up couples have the chemistry that the older characters had like Anna/Robert, Luke/Laura, Sonny/Brenda, Frisco/Felicia, etc...

I also fast forward through alot of it.  Sonny/Kate is just getting to be the most annoying storyline.  I liked Kate when she first came on but lately she is whiny and her clothes are terrible.  The reception dress was UCK!!  Robin and Patrick need to get a better story line and the Jason/Elizabeth thing is so boring.  I do like Claudia and Ric and I hope they take out Trevor and Daddy soon.  And Spinelli and Maxie are the best.

It isn't as good as it used to be but really all of the people that you mentioned didn't really have any good story-lines anyway.  I never really cared for Dillon and Georgie and Emily were beyond boring and Skye only had a few lines a week, if she lucky.  I am just so tired of people having the SAME conversations EVERY single day.  Robin and Patrick have said the same things so many times they didn't even have to learn new lines and Jax and Carly are doing the same thing and I just simply despise Kate Howard.  I like the storyline with Sam and Lucky right now and the one with Lulu and Laura but the rest is just kinda BLAH to me.

Eh...

It has gotten some what...so-so.  However, it's starting to pick back up.  I think with the writer's strike they went a little off and they are still trying to recover from that.

I never thought they should have taken Emily off.  

However, I like Johnny.  

I HATE the whole Kate & Sonny relationship.  It's ANNOYING.  So is Robin & Patrick.

I do miss the old people.  They need to incorperate more of the other people back into it.  They basically only make it about Sonny, Kate, Carly, Jax, Lu Lu and Johnny lately.

yea i no what you mean..i really miss emily thats made me so fricken mad that she died cuz her and nikolas were supposed to be with eachother for like ever and i miss georgie and dillon 2 they just should have stayed cuz like i used to like never want to miss gh but now i dont care if i get to see it or not. stupid ppl

Agree, they have killed off all the characters we actually care about, wont let the ones we want to be happy, be happy. And they keep bringing in mob violence and more mob families dispite the fact fans are getting fed up!

I think in parts you're right...its all centered around the mob now.  They need to get back to the hospital and not just because a mobster gets shot.  But I do love the johnny/Lulu storyline.  Robin needs to just stop her whining & marry Patrick or die in childbirth so we don't have to listen to her anymore!!  I wish they would just put Elizabeth & Jason together and leave them.  Its what everyone wants.  We all know he can protect her & the children!!  I could go on forever so I better stop here.

GH has been going downhill for a good ten years now.  I can't even sit through a full episode of what's currently airing, but I can watch old clips on YouTube for hours.  The biggest problem with the show is balance; soap operas are supposed to involve a large cast, not just a handful of people who are constantly being pushed as the show's heroes.  That brings me to the second-biggest problem: The 'heroes' on this show?  Aren't.  Sonny and Jason kill people for a living and yet they're being shoved down our throats as all-knowing and all-righteous people.  In addition to being disgusting and offensive, it's just plain bad storytelling.  Don't tell us these people are good and then show us all the horrible things they do -- acknowledge that they are bad people but give us a reason to root for them in spite of that.

they're sacrificing great characters and families for mob wars and carly&sonny storylines. it's not what it used to be back in the 90s. like you i'm thrilled with laura coming back (however briefly) and I hope for more spencer and quartermain fun.

i love GH but lately, it just drags. the Sonny and Kate thing is so boring. i just ff and then the freaking karpov thing, why?  Ithought that the text message thing was cool, but why Georgie and coop, there was potential there for a good cop in the future police dept. Emily and Nikolas could have been the supercouple for our generation, instead, we're stuck with Spinelli fantizing about the evil blonde one(those were the days) and Lulu falling for the next bad guy on the show. but johnny has grown on me. The quatermaines were fun to watch, why not bring them back.??? I'll keep watching in hopes that Jason might finally give Carly the boot, have his family with liz, Sonny getting away cause he's just taking up space with kate,  Lucky finding a real love interest, and poor Spinelli finally getting some real manly action.and Maxie, please give her a real storyline, she needs her own thing. yes, i love GH!!!!!

You are so right. Two years ago i would catch it every night on Soapnet and also the Marathon of it on Sundays. Now i barely catch a glimpse of it on Sundays alone.

Kate if too whiny lately. I do enjoy Maxie Johnny and Lulu are over the top. It is nice to have Genie back.

They should have never killed off Emily. Georgie or Logan.

Bring back Ned and Lois!!!!!!!!!!!
