General Question about stock dividends?

I bought some stocks 2 years ago and in the meantime i find online that they have given dividends, I never received any money or anything, how can i get the money and is this normal?

  1. You should have more money in the " cash" portion of your account...or more shares than when you started...can you check?

    Most " platforms" also have a tab where you can find " transactions" or " history" ...your divvys should show up there.

Well, it depends on your broker.  Some brokers offer DRIPs (dividend reinvestment plans).  I currently use Firstrade and they automatically reinvestment my dividends at no cost.  So check if the number of shares in your holdings for that stock has increased.  If not, then something fishy is going on you might want to consider switching brokers.

  4. Do you have more shares than when you started?  Many stocks reinvest the dividends to buy more shares.  I do this in a DRIP plan. (Dividend ReInvestment Plan)
