General Tufto set to shine at Southwell - Bluesq.Com Handicap Preview
Southwell horseracing course is scheduled to host Get Your Bet On At Bluesq.Com Handicap at 5:10 on Tuesday, February 21. The Class 5 contest on 1m standard distance has £2,264 of prize money.
Six runners including Thatcherite, D ‘Urberville, St Oswald, Rock Anthem, Reason To Believe and General Tufto are geared up to show their guts today.
Here we point out the three horses who are destined to walk away with the top three positions in the event.
Following are the career snapshots of the favourites:
General Tufto
Charles Smith’s black gelding has gained great confidence by winning a wonderful race on January 8 at Southwell track. Despite being a non-favourite, the veteran runner ran well against 8 rivals and thrived.
In his last start at the same venue on January 24, the seven-year-old again performed well but managed to finish fifth this time. Prior to these two races, he finished 3rd and 4th in two consecutive races during November-December 2011.
Thus, the J R Theaker-owned gelding seems to be in good form. In today’s clash, he has as high as 85 percent chances to stand first provided he runs to his best.
Rock Anthem
After finishing 3rd and 2nd in two back-to-back starts during December 2011, Mike Murphy’s gelding bagged a marvellous triumph on the 30th of the same month. Following this, the eight-year-old runner fought well at Kempton
on January 15, 2012 but he had to rely on just 6th spot.
As a whole, the Ronald Bright-owned gelding has won 7 out of his total 55 races so far. He seems to be in a favourable position to perform well today and grab at least second rank.
Reason To Believe
After unbelievably accomplishing the second triumph of his career on September 5, 2011 at Newcastle, the trainee of Ben Haslam could not do well in his next start on January 30, 2012 and finished at the end of the 13-runner card at Wolverhampton.
However, the four-year-old gelding possesses enough talent which suggests that he will show a decent run today and finished at least 3rd.
Conclusion
Along with this favourite trio, each of the other three runners is also carrying good momentum. As a whole, it is going to be a close competition which will surely be filled with twists and turns. Let us get ready for the action. Good luck to all the runners.
