What is the most exciting or innovative thing to happen in/for general aviation in the last year?

The thielert dieselengine factory is as good as bankrupt, which is a shame for my feeling. They made it possible for a twin to have the same fuelconsumption as an AVGAS single engine aircraft, and use jetfuel which is much better available (at least in Europe).

weather information to the cockpit for a relatively cheap price,
