  1. how about cairns?

  2. Go online and search for Australian Newspapers. You will get all up to date info, plus a good 'feel' of the different cities lifestyles.

Then pick the one that suits you best

  3. Are you going for a holiday or do you want to move there? If its a holiday the best place is Sydney without a doubt if however you want to move there i would suggest that you go and take a look instead of reading up on it as what you find on the ground is nothing like the books tell you. I lived in Adelaide for a while and have friends in Perth and Melbourne and we all agree that Australia is a poor mans USA. It feels like a 21st century frontier land like the wild west and is turning very American. The people seem to be in permanent transition. The young cant wait to leave the country once they get qualified and there is a large immigrant community of British and Asian peoples who come and go. Apart from close to major city centres the infrastructure is very poor with bad transport links and leisure facilities. You have to remember this country is vast and you can drive for days to cross one state. Choose your destination carefully and go with an open mind and loads of enthusiasm. This is a country for people with energy and drive......you will see what i mean when you get there.

  4. there are alot of kangaroo's and snakes, but it is beautiful enjoy it

  5. We went to Australia last year.  We bought a couple guide books...Eyewitness and Let's Go.  Both are pretty good books.  They both listed good places to eat, stay, things to see, must sees in the country, etc.  We ended up visiting Sydney, the Outback (Ayer's Rock), and Cairns.  The highlight for us in Sydney was actually a tour to the Blue Mountains.  We stopped and visited a zoo for up close interaction with the kangaroos, wallabies, and koalas.  The Blue Mountains were a gorgeous site and must see in my opinion.  While in Sydney, I'd recomment Manly Beach for surfing, Paddy's Market in China Town for shopping (tons of tourist items cheap), seeing an opera at the Opera House and any other main attractions.  We had fun just walking around even checking things out and exploring on our own finding things not found in the guide books.  Ayer's Rock was a site to see as well though we only stayed in the area for 2 nights and thought it was plenty.  Of course scubadiving in the Great Barrier Reef before it's completely destroyed is a must as well.  Have fun on your trip!!!

thats the tourism website, my personal (mostly unbiased) opinion would be Sydney or Brisbane. I've lived in Sydney and Melbourne and melbourne is good for the shops but unless you are obsessed with AFL not much else to do.

Sydney has the more touristy things to do, climb the harbour bridge, visit the opera house, go to the zoo, go to centre point tower.

    BUT

Brisbane also has slightly hotter weather, better beaches (though Sydney's got some awesome ones too), it's close to the gold coast, theme parks. It depends what your after.

wouldn't really know about Perth, never been and i've never heard of it being anything special.

I also loved Cairns, BEAUTIFUL beaches and weather, Canberra is a hole, god knows why it's our capital.

Also if you like forests and wildlife, (you'll find plenty everywhere but ) theres the most beautiful forests in Tasmania and plenty of animals

but go to Sydney. jks thats being biased i live there now.

no seriously though its the best...

    hope i helped
