I HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY PEOPLE ON THIS TOPIC

I HAVE POSTED A COUPLE OF QUESTION under

general liability audit

WELL IT WAS MY AGENTS MISTAKES AND MINE

HE INPUT WRONG AND I SIGNED

THE PROBLEM IS THE MONEY OWED TO THEM

SOMEONE ADVICE ME TO GIVE AND OLD GL CERTIFICATE FROM OTHER COMPANY AND SWITCH

INFO THEY SAID THAT THE INSURANCE WILL NOT CHECK OR CALL THE COMPANY BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN A YEAR AND THE SUB HAS LEFT AND CANCEL.

I AM SCARED TO DO THIS AND DO NOT HAVE THE GUTS

BUT I ALSO DO NOT HAVE $14000 TO PAY THEM

MY PAINTING COMPANY IS OVER no work in houston

HELP WHAT SHOULD I DO I AM VERY CONFUSE

  1. You should not try and squeeze out of this- that'll only get you in trouble with the law. You should dispute the audit. You can dispute it and your agent should work on your behalf to get it amended. If they don't, you could sue them for Errors & Omissions, it's pretty much guaranteed they have that coverage just for this reason. It's their responsibility- and if it's truly not RIGHT, you should not have to pay that much.


  2. Look, the agent's "mistake" isn't costing you any money. If he had put in the accurate number at first, you would have paid the $14,000 during the year, in addition to what you DID pay.  All the "mistake" did, was change WHEN  you had to pay the $14,000.

    You have two ways of getting out of this:  getting GL certs from your subs, and contesting the audit to remove the money you paid the subs from the exposure, or having your business file bankruptcy.  That's it.

    Interestingly enough, *I* am in Houston, and there's no shortage of work for painters, that I've seen.
