General question. Are there any problems with the drivers and unimodem files for the modem

Are there any problems with the drivers and unimodem files for the modem blaster de5625 and Windows 98/ME/2K?   There seem to be a lot of problems with this modem not connecting as fast as a good pci winmodem.  My experience with controller modems is that they only connect slightly slower but have similar thruput.   The creative/digicom, now broadxent sites seem fairly lame with support for modems in general. Are these widely sold modems co-branded?
