Generali UNTERHACHING defeats Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE 3-2
A Pool D match of the CEV Volleyball Champions League- Men took place in the German city of Munich.
The two teams that took part in the competition were Generali UNTERHACHING as well as Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE. The two teams put on a competitive show of volleyball skills that took the match to five long and gruelling sets at the end of which the team
that found themselves on the winning side was UNTERHACHING.
By the time that the match had reached its close and the Generali was celebrating its hard earned win, the score board showed the following final set scores: 25-21, 20-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-8.
The first set of the match saw both the teams start off competitively but the Jihostroj fell to making errors during the middle of the game that caused them the set. However, losing the first set did not go down well with CESKE and they were able to rally
themselves together to give the Generali a significant challenge that caused CESKE to equalise the match.
The momentum generated from winning the second set of the frame propelled the CESKE to another win in the third set but the Generali recorded a win in the fourth set and took the match to a decisive fifth one in which the Generali was able to smother their
opponents.
The coach of the visiting team, Jan Svoboda, expressed himself in the following words after his team had lost the match, “After the third set UNTERHACHING started to play better and we didn’t receive very well. I’m unhappy, because we could have left here
with at least two points.”
On the other hand, the coach of the winning team, Mihai Paduretu, shared his views by making the following statements, “We knew that it was going to be more difficult than last week. Too bad that we didn’t gather three points, but our chances are still alive.”
The match that saw the home team earn a win took place in front of a total of 1,200 people who watched the whole show proceed for an hour and 52 minutes.
