Thanks keep the answers coming. I was asking because I was planning on going to Italy or France as an "exchange student" but the program I was going to go with also has it for the summer, so I was hoping to just barely miss the having to go to the school

  1. It depends, usually up to 8th grade and then 10th grade, it's about middle june i would say, and in 9th, 11th and 12th grade there are some exams, and it can end up like around the 7th of july.

  2. Fairly early - Mid to late June.

The weekend to avoid in terms of travelling is the one closest to the 15th August as this is a big holiday in France.  Also the 'Grand Depart' tends to be at the beginning of August when everyone leaves Paris for the summer.

  3. This link is from the Ministère de l'Éducation nationale's website, and provides information concerning that very subject (and other "vacances scolaires" for that matter) through the 2009-2010 school year.

  4. End June to early September.
