Question:

Generally speaking, how much does a box-spring cost?

Our box-spring is broken ( on my side of the bed too, dang it) and I am wondering how much a new one would cost us. Would just putting some boards under there be cheaper?? ( Under the box-spring I mean). We are assuming the reason the box-spring will not stay on the frame is due to the break. The frame is 4 years old and seems to still be in good shape. So, what does a new box-spring cost??? I'd rather do that than the boards if possible.

  1. About $160-200.

In the Mid-East and other parts of the world (including some of the beds in our house), we don't use a box spring.  We put the mattress on a piece of plywood/OSB.  It makes it easier to get in and out of & looks kind of trendy.

I asked if this was good for the mattress & a furniture store said that it was perfectly fine.

  2. How big is the bed?

    A queen 9" boxspring is around $120.

You might be able to find one for alot less on Craigslist, maybe even free.
