For the diagnosis, quarantine, and treatment of a cat that might have been bitten by a bat that might have had rabies. The bat has disappeared therefore we can't get it tested and the cat might have been bitten or ingested some of the bat's blood/saliva yesterday.

  1. i would immediately get that cat to a vet.  If the cat has been bitten and the bat does have rabies, you are exposuring yourself and your family to a disease that is most often fatal.  After seeing the vet, you will have to decide if you want to pay for the treatment of your cat or if you want the cat put down.

  2. A lot of money. It must be quarantines and done immediately as so not transfer the illness to you or anyone else. Vet exam, at min $200 for this type thing, plus tests. I would estimate close to if not more than $1000

  3. Does the cat have a bite wound?  If so clean it immediately with  hydrogen peroxide - this is safe for kitty- also if you ask any vet in most of the US they will tell you that they have never seen rabies in a cat or a dog- did kitty get vaccinations at any time?  Depending on where you are- you will have the vet visit and the blood work- that is probably under a hundred dollars- once you get the results ( the negative results) have kitty vaccinated for rabies IF you think that this is a common occurrence- good luck

  4. That's such a hard question to answer because the price will vary quite a bit depending on the vet you go to. The best thing to do is to call several vets and try to ask how much it will cost to get the cat the shots, and the antibiotics. You really need to get your cat to a vet asap because he/she probably has an infection and needs antibiotics. Our cat had to get an infection from another cat bite drained and he was put on antibiotics, our vet is cheap and the bill was around $100.00.

  5. This would all depend on your vet. So I would say to call your vet and have them give you as estimate of the cost for this. Also, depending on the severity of the situation you may want to take him to an emergency clinic (you can google local ones in your area) and take him in right away. However this will usually cost you more. But for the situation you're describing I would say it shouldn't be more than 300 but not less than 150 with a regular vet. Best of luck :)

  6. I'd say $1500.00 but u can get medicaid and pay $100 each month,

  7. I'd say in the 100's definitely. They would need to take a blood sample and then bring it to a lab and whatnot. Treatment would most likely be a medicine if anything.

  8. Your cat will need a rabies booster shot.  Even if she has her shots.  That is the treatment - and she needs it very quickly!  Also you and your family will probably need the series of rabies shots.

There is no diagnosis of rabies until the animal dies.  Then the head is removed to test the brain tissue.

You may be able to quarantine at home.  She would have to be kept in a  large cage/crate with her food & litter box.  And no contact with her.

Please be careful - rabies is almost 100% fatal if contracted.   There is only one case in history that was successfully treated.

So the cost is:  An office visit to the vet (depends on your vet) and a rabies booster (also depending on vet).  If you have insurance your shots will be covered (I think that they are covered even if you DON'T have insurance!)

    Probably around $50-75?
