Question:

Generic Contact Solution?

Would it be ok for me to try a generic brand on my silicone lenses? It is a No Rub multipurpose variety. My doc also wants me to start rinsing them with saline, but I was looking at switching for costs.

I don't have allergies, I just want to make sure the lens cleaner isn't going to damage my contacts. I asked at the in-store contact place and he said it will be fine but he also didn't know what Biofinity it (my contacts) so I'm not sure if he knew what he was talking about. If it doesn't feel right of course I will switch back, but will it damage my contact or my eye?

  1. Most of the generic brands are garbage,,,to put it mildly.

They work for some people, but not for all

For the sake of a couple of bucks every couple of months, stick with what your Dr. told you to use...your eyes will thank you.

  2. Very bad idea. Generic solutions are NOT designed to work with the newer Silicone Hydrogel lenses- stick with what your Doctor tell yoiu to use- you'll be healthier and more comfortable in the long run!
