**its weird i have a scenario and i need help ***

-The offspring of a homozygous purple and a homozygous pink plant are bi-coloured purple and pink.

a) Assuming that a single gene is involved, What relationship exists between the phenotypic expression of alleles?

b) would the conclusion change if the offspring were purple? explain.

** please can you help me i have NO clue. thanks heaps**

  1. incomplete dominance..

    and yes.. it would mean complete dominance with purple being dominant over pink


  2. a) Codominance , where neither allele is dominant to each other and BOTH are expressed in the phenotype.

    (If they exhibited incomplete dominance the offsping would be an intermediate between purple and pink and would be lilac)

    b) If all the flowers of the offspring were purple , purple would be completely dominant to pink coloured flowers. ie the presence of a completely dominant allele masks the presence of a recessive allele.

    PP = purple  and Pp = purple.
