Genesis Servania knocks Genaro Garcia out in the 12th round - Boxing News
Genesis Servania, the surging young Filipino pugilist, grabbed a career boosting win over heavily experienced Mexican proud Genaro Garcia, the former WBC FECARBOX bantamweight champion, in a 12-round bout held on June 2, 2012.
With this win, young Servania has engraved his name on his career’s very first title that is the WBC International Silver super bantamweight title. The above duo headlined the Filipino pay-per-view organised and promoted by Michael Aldeguer of ALA Promotions.
The ring for the event was set up at the Resorts World Hotel, Newport Performing Arts Theatre situated in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
The showdown, which was televised live from CBN channel 2, was co-headlined by another 12-round bout between Donnie Nietes and Felipe Salguero with the former defending his WBO light flyweight title.
Servania was nowhere to be found before the bout against the heavily decorated and experienced veteran brawler Garcia. However, somehow the young lad not only nailed the former champion but also proved to the world that he is ready to take on almost any
belligerent in the division.
Genesis, 20, was entering in his career’s 18th bout and boasted an undefeated streak. The young Filipino has never lost even a single bout and has collected six of his wins by knocking the opponent out cold.
His Saturday night opponent, Garcia, 34, was entering in his 47th career bout. The Mexican proud also known as ‘Poblanito’, has nailed 38 opponents and huge 22 of them via knockout. It is this reason why it was being predicted that Garcia will annihilate
the young lad with his powerful knockout jabs.
In addition, Garcia was coming from a very impressive sixth round technical knockout win over heavily experienced Genaro Camargo. From the very first round it seemed as if both men have unloaded a wave of well targeted vicious punches that connected brutally.
Garcia used all of his power in the initial rounds and strived extremely hard to knock the Filipino out but Servania, also known as ‘Azucal’, exhibited a tough chin and despite receiving many raw powered jabs did not lose his senses.
In the very last round, when both men were leading the scorecard, Genesis moved in and connected a very powerful four-jab combination that stunned the fatigued and worn out Garcia.
The Mexican fell on the ring floor but immediately stood up while breaking the referee’s 10-count. His action seemed to be fruitless as Servania received him with another series of left and right hooks after which, at two minutes and two seconds, the bout-referee
halted the brawl denoting Servania as the winner and the WBC International Silver super bantamweight champion.
After the bout even Garcia admitted Servania’s resilience and stated, "The kid (Servania) is strong. I felt him stronger than (Toshiaki) Nishioka." With this win Genesis has started a new era and will now move up in the rankings to take on the ace bantamweights.
Garcia has received his ninth career and sixth knockout loss whereas Servania has collected his career’s 18th win.
