Genetic engineering - Germline modification. Step by step instruction?

I REALLY need a through and detailed procedure of modifying humans' genes (or animals. They are the same, right?).

Step by step. Please feel free to throw in scientific words. If you can be really really detailed, I will... love you..? :) Thanks.

  1. This is still very experimental, so there really is no answer to your question. If there was an answer, scientists will love you and religious conservatives will have your head. Some (EXPERIMENTAL) techniques could include the addition of an artificial 24th chromosone or injecting viruses into the cell.
