How can I refute this quote?

“[One] type of gene therapy...adds normal genes... to produce something the patient lacks due to genetic defects. [Another type works] by obstructing genes that cause disease (Torr 37).

  1. This quote is exactly correct.


  2. It's an objective statement of fact.  It's simply what two types of gene therapy hope to accomplish.  

    If you're looking for a downside to gene therapy, there isn't really a valid one yet.  Sure, there are problems with the technology, but it's still in the research stage (the same can be said of any medical technology at that stage of development).  To my knowledge, the FDA hasn't given the green light to gene therapy techniques.

  3. I do not see anything wrong with this quote.

  4. The quote is fine except there are no working examples of human gene therapy using either of these approaches yet.
