I need information about HOW you genetically modify/manipulate/engineer human beings i.e. animals. I've tried searching the net for really detailed, exact procedure of genetically engineering animals but all I've got so far are ethical, moral, social essays or articles!

I really really need DETAILED, and GENUINE information from a RELIABLE source.

Thanks!!!!!

  1. The fragment of DNA containing the gene  to be cloned is inserted into a vector to produce a recombinant DNA molecule. The DNA fragments are generated  with the help of restriction enzymes like Eco RI, Modifying enzymes eg: Terminal transferase& Ligase enzyme. This vector(eg Plasmids vectors, YAC, Phagemids, cosmids) is usually a bacterium or sometimes even other cells are also used. This vector multiplies in the host cell to produce numerous identical copies of the recombinant genes.

These vectors are now introduced into the animals or plants using transfection or transformation methods like invitro packaging, electroporation, gene gun method, lipofection, virus mediated method,Ti mediated gene transfer etc.

Refer. Cell biology Bruce Alberts text book.
