Genetics question?

I've got a question, my 2 brothers were born as blue eyed blonde haired babies, but then changed to brown eyes and brown hair. I have red hair and brown eyes and i'm 18. When i was younger i would always burn and then peel, but now I tan, and it lasts, I was wondering if this was kinda the same thing and if my hair or eyes could change, and if they do for adults and not just children?

  1. Many babies are born with blue eyes and light hair but as they grow up, their eye and hair color changes and darken. This is not a genetic change. The thing is that the eyes are not completely formed when the babies are borne. And the pigments that determine hair color have to accumulate in hair follicles before the through hair color is shown.

Once babies hair and eye color changes to what genetically is supposed to be, it is unlikely to change again unless there is some sort of disease or malnourishment is happening.

People with red hair are normally more sensitive to UV wages than people with other hair colors and kids are more sensitive than adults. Although you are saying that you do not burn anymore and that you tan, I do not suggest that you stay in the Sun for long periods without wearing protective clothing or at least a strong sunscreen because having red hair means that you have fair skin and people with fair skin tone are at higher risk of Melanoma (a type of skin cancer caused by UV radiation) than people with darker skin.

  2. I guess that could happen. A lot of things change as a teenager, almost on a regular basis it seems like.
