Geneze Hannes and Kugler Andreas out-sprint Centurion-Vaude team in the third stage of 2011 TransAlp
Multivan Merida Biking Team’s Geneze Hannes and Kugler Andreas won the third stage of 2011 TransAlp, on Monday, July 18. The race started in Mayrhofen and ended in Brixen.
Geneze and Kugler took a total of 3 hours, 40 minutes and 39 seconds to cover the distance of 94 kilometres. Kaufmann Markus and Palmberger Rupert of Centurion-Vaude were in second place with a difference of 1 second.
Due to bad weather conditions, overnight race leaders De Bertolis Massimo and Johann Pallhuber (Silmax Autopolar Cannondale) were in third place and 3 seconds behind the sprinter.
The 2009 and 2010 TransAlp runner-up, Geneze, said, "I remembered the finish from two years ago and knew exactly where I had to push it so no one could pass me. It was an important win for the team. Now, we hope that we can also move forward in the ranking."
Bolts Udo and Strobel Andreas took a lead in the Masters Category with a timing of 3 hours, 46 minutes and 52 seconds. Wieltschnig Silvio & Zorweg Heinz (Factory Team Cube) was the runner-up with 1 second, while Claudio Segata and Claudio Pelligrini (Trento
Lii) finished third with a difference of 10 minute and 20 seconds.
Janes Silvano and Platzgummer Walter (Trient-Sudtirol) took the title of Senior Master with a timing of 3 hours, 51 minutes and 12 seconds. Pross Erich and Dietrich Erwin were in second place with a difference 8 minutes and 44 seconds, while Perkmann Walter
and Niggl Georg grabbed the third spot with 19 minutes and 7 seconds behind Janes and Platzgummer.
In the women category, Neumann Katrin and Miessgang Martina (Mountain Heroes) took the third stage of 2011 TransAlp with a timing of 4 hours, 35 minutes and 30 seconds, while Binder Natascha and Troesch Daniele were the runners-up with a difference of 6
minutes and 3 seconds.
Jenny Manuela and Tanner Susanne (Velorado Racing Team) were in the third place with a difference of 17 minutes and 45 seconds.
Landtwing Milena and Kiechle Martin (Centurion-Vaude) took a lead in the mixed category with a timing of 4 hours, 3 minutes and 44 seconds. Sundstedt Pia and Bresser Carsten were in second, while Jung Daniel and Weber Kristina finished third with a difference
of 3 minute and 59 seconds.
The next stage will start in Brixen and end in St.Vigil. All the cyclists will cover the distance of 70.9 kilometres.
