European intellectuals tried to explain the Mongol conquest of Poland, Russia, Silesia, and Hungary in any number of ways. Their explanations and stories reveal much about European fears and anxieties. What did the Europeans fear? What was the most immediate impact of the European misconceptions?

  1. Genghis Khan is from the Gobi Desert area of China.

    His followers were(illiterate) herdsmen,used bows and arrows as weapons, rode horses and banded together to follow him. They were used to fending for themselves and living a harsh life.

    Upon becoming the leader,  Khan declared all children legitimate, forbid kidnapping of, or selling women into marriage.

    Animal thievery also was not permitted. In all, he was quite a civilized leader considering how long ago we're talking about.
