Genius Beast and Roderic O'Connor might not feature in Dante Stakes: Horse Racing
The warm-up for the upcoming prestigious Derby has been reported to take place on Thursday at the York racecourse. It has also been revealed that the two champion racehorses, Genius Beats and Roderic
O’Connor, might not be going ahead with this event which is being flaunted with the name of Totesport Dante Stakes.
Genius Beast, the winner of the Bet365 Classic Trial event, will instead be featuring in the 2,200-meter Prix Hocquart, taking place at the Longchamp Racecourse in Paris, France.
The racing manager of Godolphin, Simon Crisford was reported as saying that Genius Beast has been entered for both, Dante as well as the Prix Hocquart. Simon did however say that the possibility of
the racehorse going to France is more than his chances of landing at York for Dante. Nonetheless, Crisford then confirmed that the final decision of the colt’s connections will be announced on Tuesday.
On the other hand, after the racehorse Recital claimed the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial Stakes, his champion trainer Aidan O’Brien confirmed that his trainee Seville will definitely go for the York
meeting, taking place this week. However, Aidan ruled out the chances of racehorse Roderic O’Connor going for the Dante Stakes.
Talking to the correspondents, the famed trainer O’Brien was reported as saying, “Roderic O’Connor will probably wait for either the Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas or the Investec Derby.”
These two racehorses were amongst the most prominent contenders for the Dante Stakes. Once their absence in the aforementioned event is confirmed, sports analysts predict that other racehorses can
anticipate a reduction in their odds. The other leading contenders of the event include World Domination, Seville and Carlton House.
