Ukraine’s spirited shuttlers Gennadiy Natarov and Artem Pochtarev proved their worth in the Polish Open and escorted their country to the quarter-finals of the event on August 31, 2012.
The fourth seeded Men’s Doubles team outshined Daniel Grassmueck-Dominik Stipsits in the second round and ensured their meeting with the French duo Antoine Lodiot-Julien Maio in the round of eight.
They will utilise all their experience which they have gained through a marvellous opening of this International Series.
Earlier in the pre quarter-finals, Gennadiy and Artem took just 35 minutes to read a favourable result of 21-17, 18-21 and 21-13.
Their splendid win in the first set put them on the right track and they cruised to victory by prevailing in the final set.
Meanwhile, the Austrian campaigners failed to forge a fruitful chemistry and crashed out of the event in woeful manner.
The battle heated up when Gennadiy and Artem started the beating straight away in the beginning of the first set. They did not lose this rhythm and kept their rivals grounded all the way to game point situation.
In the first half of the set, the Ukrainian players stamped their supremacy with 11-6 and then claimed a vital match point with 21-17 score on the board.
Next game proved to be the best part of the tussle as it kept swinging between both contenders until the last shot was played.
Both teams made every effort to achieve their respective goals. The twosome of Gennadiy-Artem was looking to wrap this showdown in just two games but their challengers turned the tables with a blistering knock.
Daniel and Dominik, who were struggling to revive their lost chemistry, performed beyond expectations and tipped the scale in their favour.
This time they did not repeat previous mistakes and maintained a slight edge throughout this crucial game.
The decisive figure of 21-18 took them into third set which became a survival of the fittest war after this development.
Local crowd was expecting a staggering fight in the badminton arena but their thirst was not filled as Gennadiy-Artem swept the table with ease.
They earned the right to be in the top eight teams of the event by putting an overwhelming margin of 21-13.
