http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gennaro-Gattuso-c14525 has been out of the AC Milan squad since September 9, after he was diagnosed with an eye problem.
His condition aggravated after colliding during a football match. The joy was evident on the Rossoneri midfielder’s face after he came on as a substitute against Parma in the 90th minute.
The road to recovery was a tough one for Gattuso, and during his recovery, he admitted that thoughts of retiring from the game crossed his mind in despair. At first, the tough tackling midfielder was diagnosed
to have paralysis of the optic nerve, but later discoveries suggested that he suffered from the condition of myasthenia.
The compact midfielder spoke about his recovery, stating:
“It was the end of a nightmare that lasted six months. It’s all over now. For four months we worked to treat a condition that then proved to be something else entirely. Now with all the cortisone they’ve
been giving me, I’ve been pumped up like a boxer!”
The Rossoneri legend was giving an interview to Radio Deejay and conceded that he was raring to start playing for the Champions on regular basis again. The former Italian international has been out of the
side for a long time, and it would take him some time to return to full match fitness.
After the collision which led to the diagnosed eye condition, Gattuso admitted that he began to see double vision and after the consequent check-ups, he was told about his eye condition. The road to recovery
has been slow and hard, requiring great mettle from the former Rangers man.
The Italian had recovered some time back; however he was been given doses of cortisone by his doctors during recovery. His cortisone levels were in excess to the ones that were legally allowed by the anti-doping
regulations.
AC Milan currently sit at the summit of the Serie A with a four point lead over Juventus after matchday 28 of Serie A.
