Genoa to decide between Sebastian Frey and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salvatore-Sirigu-c32282 by next week: Serie A news
Genoa President, Enrico Preziosi, has revealed that the Rossoblu will sign one of Sebastian Frey and Salvatore Sirigu in the next seven days.
Genoa have loaned out last year’s first choice shot-stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eduardo-c12034, to Benfica after a less than convincing campaign for the Portuguese international. Eduardo joined the Italian outfit from Braga before the start of the 2010/11
season but despite playing a handful of matches, he was far from convincing. The 28-year-old made several costly errors which cost his team several points in the league.
Genoa have been previously linked with a move for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emiliano-Viviano-c12483, but he picked up a serious knee injury and is ruled out for several months. Preziosi has now turned his attention to Fiorentina’s Sebastian
Frey and Palermo’s Sirigu.
Both the goalkeepers are unsettled at their respective clubs and have lost their first-team place. After a blow from Viviano’s injury, Preziosi revealed his interest in Sirigu and Frey and believes that a move for either of them
will be completed by the next week. He added that he is examining the situation of both men and will decide in the next few days.
However, the President has hinted of a move for Frey, as he has the experience and might be available for a lesser fee.
Talking to the reporters the President said, “The goalkeeping problem will definitely be resolved by the end of this week. We’ll definitely sign a new goalkeeper and now we just have to see which is the right operation for us.
I think he’ll be Italian.”
“We were chasing Viviano, but then he got injured,” added Preziosi of the custodian who is set to be out for six months with a knee injury. Frey of Fiorentina could be one of the important ‘keepers who we target, he knows Italian
football well, but there is Sirigu of Palermo too. “
The 63-year-old rejected talks linking Juventus shot-stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Storari-c23751, with a move to Genoa and that he not in contention to be their new number one.
