  1. It doesn't cost you credits to contact people, it costs you the £10 membership fee. But this is a better thing, because credits come in batches of £5, and expire after 7 days! If you wanted to send three messages (if they charged them with credits), then it would cost you £15 if you sent them in different weeks. Luckily, the annual payment of £10 will allow you to send countless messages harrassing other members ;)

  2. Yeah you need to subscribe - but you can nudge someone for free.  I recently did that and my school friend encoded her e-mail address into her profile and i contacted her that way.

  3. No credits, it's a subscription service.  According to the website it's £9.95 for six months access.  If you've found a lot of possible relatives on it, it's well worth the fee as you can get in touch with people and share family trees.

As someone's already said the credits are for the censuses (which are also available on www.ancestry.co.uk and www.britishorigins.com just to name two websites).  If you're just wanting to message people though, then no it won't cost any credits :)

One good thing to say about Genes Reunited - when I was a member they didn't automatically re-subscribe me when the period was up, unlike a lot of websites.  I was pleasantly surprised by that!

    Hope this helps :)

  4. It doesn`t cost any credits to contact people.

You pay the annual fee of about a tenner and you can contact as many people as you like

The credits are to access census and other records, but it works out quite expensive.  The same records are available elsewhere for a far cheaper price.
