Gentle Bob set to spark in Bathwick Tyres Novices´ Handicap Chase at Wincanton
Gentle Bob is the one to look out for, as he showed an improved form during his previous two outings. The seven-year-old is geared up to unleash his talent in the Bathwick Tyres Novices´ Handicap Chase, being held at Wincanton on Thursday, March 08, 2012.
With six quality runners, the 2m5f meeting will start at 16:05 (GMT). The going is good to soft for the Class-4 contest, which holds a cash prize of £3,054.
Among the contestants are: Gentle Bob, Brixen, Ceepeegee, Iheardu, Gilded Age and Inner Steel. To declare someone favourite, we have to have a look at the recent performances.
Gentle Bob showed an improved show during his last couple of trips. The seven-year-old did nothing special in 2011, as he grabbed no victory throughout the year.
On the first day of 2012, the gelding once again displayed an ordinary show, finishing fifth in the Bathwick Tyres Taunton Handicap Chase at Exeter.
With an ordinary show in the beginning, the bookies were forecasting another embarrassing year for Tom George’s trainee. However, the newly turned 7-year-old astonished his critics with a couple of decent performances.
In his latest outing, the bay gelding secured second slot in the Sun Trade Windows Handicap Chase at Ffos Las.
Brixen is also looking in good shape. The mare sealed an emphatic win in her previous race on February 20.
The eight-year-old defeated Classical Mist by a neck distance in the British Stallion Studs E.B.F./Thoroughbred Breeders' Association Mares' Novices' Chase. With a classy win under her belt, the Barry Brennan-trained will be full of confidence.
Likewise, Ceepeegee cannot be taken lightly, as the seven-year-old is coming into this battle after a convincing win.
On Feb 18, the bay gelding displayed a fine show, topping the chart in the Bathwick Tyres Bridgwater Handicap Chase at Wincanton. Since the gelding is in good rhythm, he will be tough to beat.
Prediction
Although Brixen and Ceepeegee are two dangerous contenders, Gentle Bob looks in ideal position to display a thumping performance.
The gelding will look to add another triumph to his tally, but he cannot take anything lightly. No matter who displays a winning performance, it will be an awe-inspiring contest.
