Gentleman Anshan to bag his seasonal debut win through the Sis Live Handicap Chase at Hereford
The Class 4 Sis Live Handicap Chase is to be hosted at Hereford over two miles, five furlongs and 110 yards on Wednesday, 21st March. The race that has a purse worth £3, 054 will see Soir D’Estruval, Gentleman Anshan, Spanish Cruise and Crannaghmore
Boy competing.
Making a comeback for getting hold of the title again is Gentleman Anshan, Anshan’s eight-year-old bay gelding out of mare Second Violin.
He cracked into the new season on 12th March in the Firs Mitsubishi & Firs Ssangyong Handicap Chase at Stratford over two miles and seven furlongs. The race was won by Mylord Collonges while settling the closest was That’s The Deal.
Gentleman Anshan had to compromise on the third position by a mere head’s difference from the runner up.
Gentleman Anshan was onboard Miss Hannah Watson.
Last year on 23rd March, Gentleman Anshan won the Sis Live Handicap Chase at Hereford over two miles and five and a half furlongs. He was riding with Miss Hannah Watson back then too.
The two led the field of four by eleven lengths and were tracked down by Master Somerville who joined them on the other end of the wire as the runner up.
Tyup Pompey concluded the race third while the 6/4 favourite of the race fell while attempting to complete the trip.
Between the year back and the race that he is expected to bag today, Gentleman Anshan won the N.S.P.C.C. Handicap Chase on 17th May 2011 at Southwell over two miles and four and a half furlong.
He shoved the 11/8 favourite of the race, Persian Gates into the second position while striding for the third place behind the winner was Tighe Caster.
An entry Gentleman Anshan needs to look out for is the seven-year-old Crannaghmore Boy who won the Morgan Public House In Malvern Novices’ Handicap Chase on 28th April at Hereford over two miles and five and a half furlong.
Crannaghmore Boy was pulled up from the 2012 seasonal debut so no one has actually seen him racing after the victory in the final race of the 2011 season at Hereford. He can turn out to be a surprising threat.
