Hairdryers are bad for your hair, right? What can I do help prevent against damage? I feel bad, being mean to my poor hairs. :)

  1. Leave in cond, or heat protectant spray

  2. Do nottttt put the blower directly on the ends.  They are just waiting to break and if you put the hot blower right on them, they will dry and split.

  3. Don't worry about the hairs, they're just dead cells. That's why it doesn't cause health problems or pain when you cut it!

However, what people mean by damaging the hair is that it becomes very dry and lacking oil after being blow-dried. The problem is merely because it looks bad.

To solve this problem, add oils to your hair. (in form of conditioner, serum or hair oil). Personally I prefer Dabur Jasmine hair oil, which you can get from most Indian grocery stores. Just leave it in dry hair for 30min (regular hair) to overnight with a shower cap(really damaged, dry, or afro hair). Then wash it out with non-drying shampoo. (no laurel or laureth sulfates in the ingredients!) Careful, the shower floor may be slippery. Gently towel dry and comb with a wide-tooth comb.

For the blow drying, use the cool setting, blow downwards from the top and don't do it everyday!
