Question:

Genuine/non genuine golf clubs?

I have noticed that many of the more poular brands of golfclubs like Callaway, Taylor Made, Ping etc. can be purchased in China at a fraction of the cost. Are these genuine, are they as good as the real thing, are they copies, are they value for money or will the heads fall off or something worse. How would I tell the difference from US made and China made

  1. I would imagine that theseare fakes I wiould stay away from them if I were you.

  2. Where did you notice this?

  3. The answer to your question is that some manufacturers do build their clubs in China however even in China they should still cost a decent wedge for a branded name set of clubs.

If you are purchasing these clubs off a back of a lorry for £100. I think it's safe to say they are fake or stolen or both!!

If your serious about your golf you would go and get measured and pick a set that suits you rather than trying to cut corners.

  4. I build and repair custom golf clubs and i find with the clones is that the head weight is either light or heavy which throws off the swing weight of the club.. My advice is to stay away from them because they would be difficult to hit effectively..  You need a swing weight of C5 to D5 and with the clones they will either go up or down of that scale.  A good way to look at it is if your baseball bat had to much barrel weight then it would be more difficult to hit with the optimum results or if the bat barrel was light then you perhaps could increase the head speed but the results would not be as good... Swing weight is the perfect balance of the golf club from grip to head.

  5. No,No,Yes,probably and with no warranty.

  6. those are fake, recently i went to china and  i bought a taylormade r7 golf bag despite the fact that it was a fake, i also saw a lot of callway X20 ,taylormade irons and so on for sale, they are fakes,, and they normally sell it in a whole set, meaning it consist of driver,2 woods and the whole set of irons and bundle in the golf bag but they are low quality, veri soon the golf head will fly off, i have seen b4 fake callway fusion and the driver is abt to fly off soon

  7. The orient is famous for producing counterfeit products.  Golf clubs are no exception.  Stay away from them.

  8. First of all there is a good chance that these clubs are clone.  Really the only way to see is that what the description of the items are and where are you seeing the information.  If it is on ebay you need to be careful because a lot of people will sell you one thing on ebay and send you something else, for example if you tried to a king cobra set, they'll send you a King Snake set, heard a lot of stories of this happening.

I of course am not sure what kind of player you are nor do I know your handicapp.  With that said I don't see a problem buying clone clubs if that is your intent.  For someone is just starting out, has a high handicap or is not looking to spend a lot of money a name brand set, then these are an excellent option.  I have buddy who purchased R7 Draw irons clone and they look identical to the Taylormade brand.  He loves them has played a couple rounds with them and has not given complaint about them.  He of course is a high handicap and wants to get better before he dumps a lot of money a really good set.

A lot of these clone clubs are actually produced in the same factory as the Callaways, Taylormade, Nike etc.  I have heard though that attention to detail is not quite the same as you will find a name brand item.  I really cant say for sure.

  9. purchase element 21 golf clubs instead, they are genuine, let alone better clubs.
