Geoff Cameron’s versatility to be useful for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Houston-Dynamo-c39542 in the playoffs
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Monterrey-c39943 got the media attention. He played an important part in Die Oranje’s 3-0
win against the reigning CONCACAF Champions.
His ability to play in defence was on the show in the friendly as he played the ball out of defence with superb composure.
“It’s important to have guys who aren’t tied to one position,” Houston head coach Dominic Kinnear said. “Against Monterrey, the main reason he was back there was because Andre was gone and Jermaine was gone. It’s good because we know he can play well back
there.”
Since his acquisition by the Dynamo in 2009 SuperDraft, the player has been an important part of the midfield and has registered 9 goals and 10 assists from 57 matches while manning the defensive midfield position.
With both Andre Hainault and Jermaine Taylor away for international duty, and third choice http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eddie-Robinson-c11845 injured, Cameron was the logical choice to play in the central defence. To the surprise of many, he garnered more attention there than he had in his
natural position.
Now that Hainault and Taylor are back at the Robertson Stadium, Cameron is likely to come back to his regular position in the midfield, when Houston travel to Kansas to take on Sporting Kansas City at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park.
“I like playing centre back and centre mid and I feel pretty comfortable at both,” Cameron said. “I’m going with the flow. This weekend, I’ll likely go back to midfield and then we’ll just go from there.”
The Orange are 4th in the Eastern Conference with 35 points in 27 matches. The team is still battling for a playoffs berth, facing stiff competition from New York Red Bulls and Western Conference club Portland Timbers – both have 32 points.
