Former Australian pace master, Geoff Lawson, has lauded the veteran Indian bowler, Zaheer Khan, terming him as an experienced bowler, able to guage weaknesses and bowl accordingly.
Lawson opines that Zaheer is the most talented and reliable Indian bowler despite his low pace, claiming that the speedster has delivered outstanding performance in the Boxing Day Test notwithstanding lack of practice and comeback after a long gap.
Regarding him as a man of mind, the former Pakistani coach rants that Zaheer gives a sudden boost to his team in critical situations when others fail to get breakthroughs.
In his words with the media today, Henry said, “Zaheer was sublime in MCG Test. He’d been injured in July and I’d been interested to see how he would come back. Plenty of things principally that he has a lot between the ears. Because he’s so experienced,
he understands batsmen. He has enormous mental strength.”
Since his injury-led pull out of the first India-England Test at Lord’s in July 2011, Zaheer delivered the ball for the first time in an international match on December 26 at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), grabbing 7 wickets. In two days of the ongoing
2nd Test, he has picked up 3 scalps.

Along with Zaheer, Lawson has also appreciated the bowling skills of the two other young Indian pacers; http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umesh-Yadav-c94625.
He stated, “In my view, Ishant was terrific and bowled the fastest I’ve seen him do for a long time... If he’s going to be consistent at that pace (fastest of 152.2), then he’ll be getting a lot of good batsmen out. Umesh was very impressive. A big, solid
guy with good pace.”
The ongoing 4-Test series holds great significance for the Men in Blue who are favourites to win this time. Zaheer is supposed to play a key role in his team’s first ever triumph on the Oz soil.
