Geoff Lawson, the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 tour.
Lawson justified his point stating that Pakistan team can only show improvements if it would be coached by a person free of any influence.
Waqar’s unexpected resignation on Saturday on the basis of his health and some personal issues, was not less than a shock, leading to different speculations by different critics and cricket greats. The former legendary left-arm
pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292 called head coach’s resignation as a mystery adding that there must have been something behind the scenes.
The PCB is thought to be under the influence of government and political bodies when such decisions are made. Despite International Cricket Council’s recent ruling, which has asked all the member boards to curb political and government
interference, the PCB is still under political influence, as the chief patron of the board is Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari.
“Whether you come from Karachi or Lahore, the pressure on you from external sources doesn’t let you do the work properly. A foreign coach won’t have that excess baggage. He won’t worry about politics but will just concentrate on
making the best team he can,” said Lawson.
The Pakistani team has been served by different foreign coaches at different times, including Dan Kiesel, Geof Lawson, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-Andrew-Woolmer-c85587.
Lawson joined Pakistan cricket team on July 16, 2007, and was the third foreigner to coach the team. Despite fulfilling his duties with great devotion, Lawson was sacked by the PCB chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, who stated that the coach
was of no utility for them.
Lawson also negated the idea given by critics that language acts as a great barrier between the players and the foreign coaches.
“In my time, language wasn’t a problem. The common language was cricket and that’s all they had to understand," added Lawson.
Pakistan will start their tour to Zimbabwe in next month, which includes the only Test, a three-match ODI series as well as two Twenty20 Internationals.
