Geoff Marsh blames the batsmen of Pune Warriors for a poor showing in IPL
Coach of the Pune Warriors, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Geoffrey-Robert-Marsh-c58893, has blamed his batsmen for the poor show in their opening season in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Warriors are currently at the ninth position in the points table with a mere eight points after 12 matches and they do not have any chance of qualifying for the play-off stage of the tournament.
Marsh said that he is extremely disappointed that his team cannot make it to the next round because of a poor show in the initial part of the league. However, he wants to spoil the party for other teams in the coming matches.
With two games left in the current season, the former Australian Test cricketer wants to end the league on a high with two wins.
Marsh said, "We can't make the finals, which is disappointing. All we can do is stop other teams from getting there. We want to finish in the best possible way we can, with two wins,"
Pune has some extra-ordinary stroke-players in its lineup in the shape of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JD-Ryder-c1679, but they have failed to gel well as a strong batting unit.
Poor batting display by the Warriors batsmen led to their management signing former Indian captain Saurav Ganguly in the later half of the tournament as he went unsold in the auction of the fourth edition of IPL.
Marsh said that his batsmen are talented but they have not been consistent enough in the current season. He feels that the batsmen of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 are responsible for the fact that they cannot qualify for the next stage even if they win their last two matches.
Pune’s coach said that there have been a number of occasion when his team was struggling at the top of the innings and lost wickets in succession. From that situation, it becomes extremely difficult to win the matches even if the bowlers do their job.
"The inconsistency with our batting has been disappointing. We just have not batted well enough. I think about five times we have been four down for 40 runs. It's very hard to win a game from there no matter how well the bowlers bowl.” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362 added.
