Geoff Ogilvy is not worried about his poor PGA Tour start
Geoff Ogilvy is not worried about his mediocre performance in the current Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour season of 2012.
The 34-year-old Australian professional golf player was unable to perform well since January and failed to impress the spectators.
However, he is not considering his game to be unimpressive in the current season. Instead, he thinks that he is doing his best.
He is not alarmed and unaware about the high competitive pressures in the upcoming events either.
"I actually kind of like how I'm playing. I know it's a standard cliched answer but my scores aren't really reflecting how I'm playing. My game has been getting better each time I've played and, while it's not excellent, it is almost pretty good," Ogilvy
said.
The 2006 US Open winner started his season from the Farmers Insurance Open and finished tied for the fiftieth position. He was unable to compete well against the other players and only scored 4-under 284.
Later he paced up his performance to some extent and finished tied for the 25th position at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in February.
He continued his poor performance at the Northern Trust Open and missed the cut for scoring 5-over par till the second round.
The competition is at its new high and all the world leading players are in their full form. They are doing well and defeating others with enormous scores.
Hence, Ogilvy was also unable to compete against the amazing birdies and impressive eagles, by the high ranked players, at Accenture Match Play Championship and Cadillac Championship.
Both the tournaments were organised by the World Golf Championship and the Australian had finished both on the 33rd and 55th positions, respectively.
Now he is in the field of the Transitions Championship, starting from March 15 to 18, and feels confident.
He is aiming to perform well at the Copperhead Golf Course, Innisbrook Resort and Spa, Palm Harbor in Florida.
"I played right up to Christmas almost and I need to dig deep to light the fire again. But I feel refreshed again now ... and I'm sure by the time the Masters comes round, I'll be super excited and back to my peak," he added.
After the Transitions Championship, he will be enjoying the Master Tournament at Augusta.
If he wants to be impressive and is planning to score well against the others, then he has to improve his strokes, swing and putting by practising rigorously.
