Geoff Ogilvy still hopeful to get the Masters invitation
It seems as if lady luck is not coming anywhere close to the Australian golf professional, Geoff Ogilvy, as his efforts to make it to the Masters went futile yet again.
The top fifty ranked golfers are selected for the Masters. Ogilvy missed out on his chances when he was tied at the 4th place of the Australian PGA Championship.
A fourth place in the tournament put him in the 51st spot in the world ranking. Thus, he missed out on qualifying for the Masters tournament by one place.
The Augusta National invites the top fifty players in the world ranking to battle it out on one of the most prestigious tournaments of the season.
The field of 2013 has been subject to numerous additions. Thirteen golfers made it due to a consistent performance throughout the year.
Two Professional Golf Association Tour members, namely, Bill Haas and Jason Day, are the only golfers among the thirteen who are actually members of the tour.
These two golfers have fairly better chances to get into the Masters. They can, by winning a regular event on the PGA Tour, finishing among the top the fifty golfers on the money list or by qualifying for the Tour Championship.
Ogilvy is a highly talented golfer. He has shown his mettle on the fairways by clinching various tournament titles on the tour.
The Australian golfer turned professional back in 1998, joined the PGA Tour of Australia and the PGA Tour in 2001.
The San Diego resident has eleven professional wins to his claim. He has won on the PGA Tour seven times, the European Tour four times and twice on the PGA Tour of Australia.
He has had a decent run in the Major Championships. In 2011, the Australian registered a fourth place tie. He has secured respectable finishes in The Open Championships and the PGA Championship but the highlight of his career came back in 2006, when he won the U.S. Open
All hope is not gone for Ogilvy, he still has chances to make it to the Masters. He will have to win a PGA Tour event prior to the start of the Masters tournament.
There will plenty at stake and numerous players around the globe will be seen competing, and therefore, bringing out the best of golf in each other.
