It’s been three rounds and Geoff Ogilvy is still leading the Australian Open with his round three minus 6.
Ogilvy is currently half way through the third round of the Australian Open 2010 and holds a 5 shot lead over the first round leader, Matt Jones.
To par, the golfer at apex has carded an outstanding minus 17 against Jones’s minus 12 in total. The top five is thus rounded up by a glut of Australian golfers with the leader playing through 15 holes at the Lakes.
As far as the conditions are concerned, they have been favourable enough for the golfers to card lower scores. The weather thus presented the greens with zero winds.
Ogilvy, the US Open Champion, put up a dazzling start in display and grabbed his first birdie on the first hole of the course. The holes after the par 4 first awarded the golfer with one more till he reached the fourth hole of
The Lakes and then managed to grab another one at the par three 9th hole at the Australian Open.
As for the follower Jones, he wasn’t that far off with his attacks. Ogilvy’s fellow compatriot carded one at the par 3 second hole and then another one at the par three 5th hole.
However, the paces changed further when Jones failed to handle the 7th hole and reluctantly accepted a bogey. The par-three incident thus pushed Jones way back to an 11 under.
Moving further down the leader board, the third place has a standing by Greg Chalmers with a minus 10. The Australian player carded a minus 6 today and is through 18 holes to card a 66. Throughout the three rounds, Chalmers has
carded scores of a 69, a 71 and a 66.
Victorian Peter Nolan follows the third place holder further down and has carded a minus 4 through 17 holes. Nolan, a superb golfer, thus stands at 4th place on the leaderboard and has collected a minus 9 till now. His
worst round so far has been the second round of the Open where he carded an unlucky 72. The first round was however much better than round 2 where the leaderboard placed him with a 67.
At T5, Matthew Griffin marks his place through 5 rounds and is currently at a one up. Griffin has a minus 8 to par and has been able to card scores of a 65 followed by a 70 in the two rounds of the Open.
