You mean geologic? Geology is a non-living science.  This is the study of Earth's surface, history, and natural Earth events Volcanoes, EQs etc.  Biology is the study of life.  Just had to clarify this.

The abiotic factors of geologic events would be the forming of the Earth's plates and their movement by the convection current in the Earth's core.  Plate Tectonics is what explains how mountains form, why volcanoes erupt, and what causes earthquakes.  Then you get into weathering and erosion, this is how some land forms happen.  The Delaware Water Gap became what it is because of glaciation.  Some gaps happen because of wind.  There is a wind gap in Pennsylvania.  The Wind Gap formed because wind has eroded a mountain fold near the Pennsylvania Jersey Border.  About 10 miles into Pennsylvania.
