Here is the questions I need help with:

1. What are the typical scales for large and small-scale maps? What are their purposes?

2. How do maps help focus the reader's attention on just a few specific things?

3. What features are found on general-purpose maps?

Help with those, please! Best answer will be given to the person who can give me good answers for them all!

Thanks so much, and by the way, please be a little quick.

  2. scales are used to let people understand the ratio between what is drawn on the map and what is reality.  lets say u hvae a map which has S America as a continent length with 12 cms.  really S America's length is around 7500 kms, wchich is 750 million cms.  therefore the scale is 12:75 million or 1:62.5million.  there is no definitive scale for a large or small map, it depends on what you are potraying

Maps can have markings, highlights that will point people's attention there.  this can be accompnaied by a label or a text box.  Eg if you want to show cities with population of greater than 10 million, you just plot those on a world map and write their names and population alongisde

general purpose maps have a title, a key (for markings on the map), a scale.  they may also contain the directions (north arrow) and lognitdes and latitudes

  3. why not start with Googling 'small scale maps' and 'large scale maps' and 'general-purpose map features.'

Fact-based questions like yours are MUCH better answered by using Google instead of here at YA, in my opinion.

I don't do homework any more, and I don't do other people's homework, especially those with a short time limit...but I'm more than glad to point you toward the vast, broad array of knowledge available on The Internet..
