  1. The answer is Number 2.  Most modern geography textbooks teach about the five themes of geography.  So the person answering the question knows what the themes are.  If you haven't studied the themes, you will be somewhat in the dark as to the answer.

The answer is not 1 as the themes are interrelated, and one many themes may be applied to one topic.  Furthermore, the answer is not 3, as some of the themes (such as human-environmental interactions) do not specifically refer to location).  And the answer is not 4, as the organization of geography into the themes is not an exact science which has been discovered.  Rather, the themes are simply tools designed for organizational and teaching purposes.

So the answer is 2.  The themes were designed to reasonably encompass all of geographic knowledge.  Although the division into five specific themes is not necessary for the study of geography, the themes do, for organizational purposes, form the core of geographic inquiry.

I hope your study of Geography goes well.  And I hope you really understand the material, and don't just choose number 2 because I said it's so.  God bless.

Please let me know if this helps.

  2. This is a silly question -- not because of you, but because of who originally asked it: it is foolish to suppose that geography, or any other field of study, has a specific number of "themes" which exclude all others.  Since the question doesn't show what these "themes" are supposed to be, any answer about their interrelation (if any!) would be pure speculation.

  3. Seriously man. Just do your own homework.

  4. 3

  5. i would say 2
