  1. Puget Sound in the state of Washington.

A Sound or seaway is a large sea or ocean inlet larger than a bay, deeper than a bight, wider than a fjord, or it may identify a narrow sea or ocean channel between two bodies of land.  A sound is similar to a strait.

  2. I used to live in New York and remember that there is a sound named Long Island Sound.

  3. Sea loch - a sea inlet loch.

  4. The closest anything I can think of comes to fitting the definition of sound in Africa is the channel between the mainland and Zanzibar and Pemba. One of the definitions is a strip of water between land masses.

Look at Guinea-Bissau. That inlet/bay may qualify too.

  5. Smith sound, north of Baffin bay between greenland and northern canada. its easy to find one if you just look at a map of canada and all its islands in the north! hope this helps!
