  1. The geography of the region is dictated by water.

    The Loire and the valley it forms is a center of agriculture and largely cultivated. The generally mild climate and good rainfall make for excellant farmland.

    The 300 kilometers of Atlantic coastline form a typical cold ocean littoral with numerous small islands and harbours interspersed with wind swept beaches where the economy is focused on fishing.


  2. What I saw of the Loire region was woodland countryside; loved the castles (Angers); one of our best French seafood meals was in its capital, Nantes, at La Cigale with a delightful, local Muscadet de Sevre et Maine wine.
