How did American Indians and descendants of Europeans view land ownership differently?

  1. American Indians didn't own land.  They followed the buffalo.

    Europeans owned land.


  2. Native Americans did not understand that you could own land.  To them it was like owning the sky.  That is why they viewed land ownership different than the Europeans.  To the Europeans, it was normal for someone to own an acre of dirt or whatever.

  3. The American Indians had a different concept of landownership to Amercicans.. To them, land was spiritual and it could not be owned, only utilized but not exploited. In other words, tey did not kill and destroy trees etc for prupose of building a casino or something likke Europeans would. They only took what they needed from the land.
